Great Grandparents

Andrew Hunter's great grandparents emigrated to New Zealand from Jersey.  They had married there in 1867.

According to the Baronage Press pedigree, his great grandfather was "Guillaume, Prince de Guise", son of "Claude, Prince de Guise".  In fact, the great grandfather was named Pierre Marie Roussell, and he was the son of one Sarin Roussell, a tailor of Plainfouger, Brittany.

The final certificate I present is that for Pierre's marriage, showing his father's details.  In common with every other certificate we have seen so far, it is remarkable for its complete lack of reference to titles of any kind.  I doubt Pierre was simply being modest in describing himself as a labourer and revealing his illiteracy by signing with his mark ('X').
